Hyderabad: 32 trapped in Iraq after agency shuts

The families of the stranded have appealed to Union minister of external affairs, Sushma Swaraj for help.

Hyderabad: About 32 persons from Hyderabad who went on a pilgrimage to Najaf city of Iraq are struck there after the travel office who sent them shut down following a police case.

The pilgrims who are from various parts of the city had left for the pilgrimage last month through KSS travel agency at Dabeerpura in Old City. However, following complaints of cheating, the police shut its office and launched an investigation after registering cases against the management.

“They are staying in a hotel close to the shrine of Imam Ali. The coordinator left them after he came to know about the police case in Hyderabad. Now the hoteliers are not allowing them to leave the hotel and snatched away their passports,” said Ali Jaffery, a Shia leader.
