Attack on bizman: Cops quiz suspects
Bengaluru: A day after a 54-year-old businessman Kanhaiyalal Agarwal was shot at by three masked men at his office in Raheja Arcade in Koramangala, the police have questioned some suspects and claimed to have got vital clues.
Three police teams have been formed to nab the assailants, suspected to be contract killers.
The police are also looking for Rajendra Agarwal from Hasanpura in Bihar, who the Kanhaiyalal’s family members suspect may be behind the attack. They allege he is Kanhaiyalal’s business rival and may have paid the assailants.
A senior police officer, who is part of the investigation, said they are probing all angles, including that of personal rivalry.
On Saturday at around 2 pm, three helmet-wearing men entered the office of Kanhaiyalal & Co, located on the second floor of Raheja Arcade, and fired four rounds at Kanhaiyalal from outside his glass cabin.
While three bullets missed Kanhaiyalal, one grazed past his head, leaving him injured. The trio fled before the employees of the firm could gather.
Kanhaiyalal was rushed to a private hospital where he is undergoing treatment.
Additional Commissioner of Police (East) Seemanth Kumar Singh said the police teams have got crucial evidence about the assailants and vital clues. The police are waiting for the forensic report to ascertain the nature of the weapon and other details.
Based on the suspicion raised by Kanhaiyalal’s family members, the police are also in touch with their Bihar counterparts and trying to establish Rajendra’s involvement, he said.
