Hyderabad: Man dies after drunken brawl over a game
Hyderabad: An argument between two persons under the influence of alcohol over a game of 'heads and tails' turned violent, leading to one of them killing the other at Chaintanyapuri on Thursday evening.
According to police, Mr Kasa Shivaraju (55) was a fruit vendor. After he developed heart-related complications a few months ago, he stopped working and took to drinking.
On Thursday, he went to a shop near Kila Maisamma temple and consumed toddy. While returning home on his bicycle, the accused, Mr Khaja, met him on the way and stopped him. Mr Khaja asked Mr Shivaraju to play head and tails with him.
Mr Shivaraju refused and moved on, but Mr Khaja chased him down and picked up an argument. In a fit of rage, he pushed Mr Shivaraju from the bicycle.
“He fell down and died on the spot. Based on a complaint from his son Naresh, we have registered a case against Khaja.” said Mr Saidaiah, inspector at Chaitanyapuri police station. Body of Mr Shivaraju has been sent for autopsy and Mr Khaja has been detained for questioning and the case is under investigation, police said.
