BENGALURU: A 29-year-old software engineer landed in the police net after troubling a woman for more than a year by allegedly circulating her morphed nude pictures on social media platforms.
The accused, Waseem, a resident of Shivajinagar, was picked up by the Vijayawada police with the help of city police.
Waseem circulated the photos of the woman, who shifted to Vijayawada from Bengaluru after her marriage in 2016. Waseem created a fake Facebook account in her name and uploaded the pictures. Waseem had also got the SIM in her name and used the mobile internet to upload the pictures. Waseem had stolen her ID card and managed to get the SIM card in her name.
"The woman and Waseem knew each other for many years as they were college mates. Waseem started uploading the photos after she got married to a Vijayawada businessman in October 2016. He sent abusive messages and her morphed nude photos to their common friends and also family members, including her husband. A complaint was filed at the Vijayawada police station on April 4," the police said.
Waseem, who loved the woman secretly, wanted to break her marriage, they said.
