Bengaluru: Engineering college topper hangs himself at his residence

BENGALURU: Driven to despair after not getting selected for a job during campus interviews despite being a topper, a 21-year-old BE final year student hanged himself at his resident in Dwarakanagar in Banashankari 3rd Stage on Tuesday.

The deceased, Arpit, studying at PES Engineering College in the city, hanged himself from a ceiling fan on Tuesday afternoon when his mother had gone out. When she returned home around 4 pm, she found him hanging. Arpit was one of the toppers in college and was depressed after he did not get placed in any company during campus selection. A case of unnatural death has been registered at the Girinagar police station.
