Katedan attack: Gunman traced to Netajinagar
Hyderabad: A day after an employee of SBI franchisee, Prasad, was shot in his office, the police is checking CCTV footages collected from surrounding areas. The SB account No: 3205496910 in one Rohith Sharma’s name was traced to a SBI branch in Ahmedabad in Gujarat.
Meanwhile, doctors performed a surgery on Prasad in the early hours of Tuesday and removed a bullet from the abdomen valve. Sources said that police traced the SB account of Rohith Sharma to Ahmedabad, collected his contact number from the bank and with the help of the contact number traced the location of the assailant to Netajinagar in Mailardevpally police station limits.
“We could not find the attacker in any of the CCTV footage collected from surroundings. We are working on the clues to identify the attacker and his motive for the attack,” Shamshabad DCP A.R. Srinivas said.
According to sources, the attacker, who spoke with a Bihari accent could be a resident of the neighbourhood and might be working with one of the companies in the Katedan industrial area.
Meanwhile, a bullet was removed from Prasad’s abdomen after a six-hour surgery. “The bullet entered the stomach and intestines causing a lot of internal damage. His condition is critical in the next 48-72 hours. He is under observation in surgical ICU,” Dr Shibaji Chattopadhyay, the COO of Global Hospitals said.
The police has not identified the bullets used. “Since a country weapon was used we have not identified the pellets. Based on investigation we will decide if it has to be sent for analysis,” an investigating official said.
Prasad, who works for SBI franchisee Geosansar was shot by an unknown person on Monday. The attacker shot Prasad after depositing '500 in one SB account and fled. Prasad was rushed to Global Hospital in Lakdikapul. Later, the hospital informed the police about the incident.
