Bengaluru: A girl working as domestic help at the house of a chartered accountant ended her life by jumping from the ninth floor of an apartment in Mahadevapura police limits on Sunday night. The reason for the suicide is yet to be investigated.
Phoolmuni, 17, who hailed from Assam, was working in the flat belonging to Vishal Karnal, a CA, at Gopalan Grandeur Apartment in Hoodi, for the last two years. The police said that she was taking care of Vishal’s 70-year-old mother Prema.
At the time of her suicide, Vishal and his wife had gone out for shopping. Around 10.30 pm, Prema could not find Phoolmuni and contacted the security guard over phone to check where she had gone. When the guard went in search of the girl, he found her lying in a pool of blood on the apartment premises and rushed her to a nearby hospital, where she was declared brought dead.
“Investigations revealed that Vishal had hired the domestic help through Milan Enterprises, an agency in Delhi. We contacted the agency to get in touch with her parents. But we are told that Phoolmuni was an orphan. We have asked the agency to inform her relatives. Also, we are investigating as to why she plunged to death and are trying to find out whether she was harassed by the family,” the police said.The Mahadevapura police have registered an unnatural death case and are investigating.
