Chennai: Five killed in separate road accidents

The Minjur police registered a case and sent the bodies to the Ponneri government hospital. Further investigations are on.

Chennai: Five people were killed in four different accidents in Chennai and Tiruvallur on Saturday and Sunday.

According to the police, Sathish (26) a resident of Minjur was riding his motorbike towards Ponneri on Saturday night at around 10.30 pm. When he was on Naloor lake road, another motorbike driven by Moideen (35) collided head-on and the two were thrown from their bikes. Sathish and Moideen sustained head injuries and died on the spot. The Minjur police registered a case and sent the bodies to the Ponneri government hospital. Further investigations are on.

In another incident, J Javish (18) a resident of Selaiyur who was pursuing first year B.Sc, Computer Science in a private college, was returning home from Guindy with his friends in a motorbike at around 10 pm when a mini truck knocked his vehicle from behind and sped away. Javish who was riding pillion fell on the road and died on the spot. Bala, who was riding managed to escape with minor injuries.

The Chromepet Traffic Investigation police registered a case and arrested the driver of the mini truck Hari Kumar (44).Ravi (58) a resident of Vazhuthi Kaimai village near Minjur was waiting at the bus stop at around 8 pm on Saturday when an unidentified vehicle knocked him down and ran over him.

The Minjur police registered a case and further investigations are on to nab the vehicle involved. Similarly, On Sunday afternoon at around 1.15 pm, S Kamatchi (65) a resident of Kodambakkam was walking on the road when an MTC bus ran over her. The bus on route number 17D bound to KK Nagar ran over her when she was walking on Kodambakkam high road near a petrol pump.

The Pondy Bazaar police registered a case and arrested the MTC bus driver Thiruselvam (44) on charges of causing death due to negligence and rash driving.
