Hyderabad: Killi Kruparani's former PA arrested in cheating case

Police said, Satyanarayana, hailing from Odisha, was running schools since 2003 along with his brother.

Hyderabad: A former PA of ex-Union minister Killi Kruparani was arrested by Rachakonda police for cheating a businessman of Rs 60 lakh by promising membership at Vishakha Port. Tammineni Satya-narayana, an MCA graduate who owns MMCC schools in the city, even gave an order granting membership with the forged signatures of Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways and Shipping Nitin Gadkari.

Police said, Satyanarayana, hailing from Odisha, was running schools since 2003 along with his brother. Meanwhile, he developed contacts with minister of state for Communication and IT Killi Kruparani and was appointed as her PA as he belonged to her community. While working for her, he used go to the govermnet offices in New Delhi. He developed contacts using the minister’s name.

Using this, he started cheating people promising jobs in Central agencies and collected money from them. He rarely visited Hyderabad. Whenever he came he used to come secretly as he feared that he would be caught by those whom he had cheated.

Police said he cheated one G. Ramesh, who owns a travel agency and finances movies. He assured Ramesh a nominated post at the Vishakha Port. The post is filled by the Centre.

Police said that Satyanarayana told him that he can get the post by paying '60 lakh. After Ramesh gave him '60 lakh, Satyanarayana gave him a letter signed by minister Nitin Gadkari stating that Ramesh was nominated as a member and that orders will be issued later. But Ramesh found the document was fake and that the signature and the stamps were forged.

“He worked as PA for only two months. He was dismissed when his irregularities came to the minister’s notice. But he still continued to cheat people. He cheated around 10 people promising them jobs in courts and one person a Railway job. We suspect that might have cheated many. If they approach us we will investigate,” police commissioner Bhagawat said.

Police found that the money he got by cheating was invested in schools. The amount he collected from Ramesh was invested in the construction of a new school building in Yousufguda. He owns three schools in the city. He was remanded.
