Missing CI traced holidaying in Guntur
Hyderabad: The missing mystery of Nalgonda II town circle inspector M. Venkateswarlu has come to an end after he was found safe in a resort at Suryalanka beach in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh.
Venkateswarlu, who was brought to the Nalgonda town, resumed his duties immediately on Saturday evening. He said that he had gone to Guntur without informing anyone just to relax. “With recent murders in the town, I had six sleepless nights which made me very stressed. I had gone out just to relax myself and did not inform any superiors as it is a general practice in the department that leave will not be granted during such crucial situations,” the inspector said.
Meanwhile, top police officials from Nalgonda said that the priority is to see that he comes out of stress. “A decision will be taken later whether to take action against him for being missing without informing any superiors,” they said.
Venkateswarlu said that he had done a fair investigation in the two sensational murder cases reported in the town in the recent days and was not under pressure from any individual or group but was disturbed with the allegations against him and the department.
“I wanted to take a break for two days. I initially carried my official mobile number and planned to switch it off. But keeping in view the seriousness of the situation, I handed it over to the neighbouring police station,” he said.
“I went in my own vehicle and drove it all alone. This is the first time I had gone to that place,” he said.
After the news of the missing CI broke out on Friday, Nalgonda police deployed three teams to search for him. After he was found heading towards Miryalaguda, they alerted the police in the neighbouring Guntur district and circulated his pictures to all the police stations, check posts and toll plazas en route.
Late in the night, he was found strolling alone at Suryalanka beach in Bapatla town, when the local police identified him and alerted higher officials.
