Hyderabad: 2 nabbed for cricket betting

The duo were organising cricket bettings since a year and collected betting amounts directly from punters in Hyderabad.

Hyderabad: West Zone police apprehended two men for cricket betting and seized Rs 2 lakh and two cell phones from them. The arrested accused were identified as Rajesh Singh, 53, cricket betting organiser from Asif Nagar and Lal Chand Agarwal, 58, the sub organiser from Attapur, said the police.

The duo were organising cricket bettings since a year and collected betting amounts directly from punters in Hyderabad.

“They were collecting and distributing amounts from betting from nearly 25 to 30 punters in the twin cities. On Friday, they were operating from Asif Nagar for cricket match between Adelaide Strikers and Melbourne Renegades teams played at Adelaide, Australia on Friday,” said the DCP, commissioner’s task force, P. Radha Krishna Rao, adding that based on a tip off, task force officials raided the place and apprehended the duo.

They were then handed over to Asif Nagar police for further action.
