Telangana: No kids, man files plaint

Hubby accuses in-laws of concealing wife's infertility.

Hyderabad: In a bizarre development, Lallaguda police booked a cheating case against a 30-year-old woman, her parents, and her brother after she failed to conceive. The police booked the case after a court order without subjecting the woman to a medical check-up. The complainant, Alluri Srimanth, 40, from Shanthinagar, alleged in that his wife “was not competent to marry.” He told the court that “all his friends had kids, but he had been waiting for years.”

After hearing the case, the 10th Additional Metropolitan Magistrate ordered the police to book a case. The couple got married in 2013 in Hyderabad. “Her parents and brother knew that she cannot conceive, and they cheated me. After the marriage, she refused to stay with me in a room,” the petitioner alleged. Police said they had no choice but book a case as it was a court order.

Police believes that the case might be closed soon as the allegations are “too weak.” Things turned out to stranger when the police started investigating the case. “The families of both the husband and wife are missing from Hyderabad. The accused family has fled to Bidar. Our repeated attempts to contact the petitioner also turned futile. We are still searching for him,” said a police official.
