Kerala: Facebook users' kudos for porn bust

Appreciation after hacking porn pages.

Kochi: Hacking of porn pages on Facebook came as a shocker and many FB users appreciated this on the official page of hackers and many criticised the police for not taking strong action but cops point to practical difficulties in tracking cyber offenders. A top cop attached to the Cyberdome said: "It’s easy for us to track these offenders. But they are using servers in remote locations and countries that are not part of any international treaty. If a country is willing to help us we can bring the offenders to book".

The source added that they had taken action against several websites and Facebook pages. Even Facebook is not helpful in many cases. "When we send requests to Facebook they will reply that the group of pages is not illegal under Federal Law”, he said. Police revealed that in many cases teenagers are involved in cyber crime. "Teenagers are involved in creating fake IDs and fake Facebook profiles. In many cases we have referred the matter to local police stations. In some incidents we have let off several persons with warnings. Kids just out of school and school students are entangled in cyber crimes”, the official said.

Regarding hacking, the police said they would take action on complaints. Kerala Cyber Hackers on Thursday hacked 59 FB pages and groups and deleted the offensive content. Hackers started defacing these pages after several users asked them. Hackers found child-porn, revenge porn and even online prostitution.
