Mangaluru: 3 held for attack in Kalladka
The Dakshina Kannada police arrested three people, including an SDPI leader and two PFI activists, in connection with an attempt-to-murder case at Kalladka on December 26.
Keshav, an accused in the Jaleel Karopady murder case, was attacked by unidentified people at Kalladka town on December 26. The police arrested the trio in connection with that case on Wednesday. SP Sudheer Kumar Reddy said that the three are accused are Mohammed Iqbal, his son Nizam and Mohammed Sharif.
Iqbal, a resident of Mangaluru hailing from Kalladka, is heading the health wing activities of SDPI. Nizam is associated with PFI, Bunder unit, while Sharif of Panemangalore is Channa Farooq’s cousin and associated with PFI Kaladka. Nizam was allegedly with Channa Farooq when the offence was committed. Police are searching for Channa Farooq, who is still at large. The three have been arrested for criminal conspiracy, harbouring and abetment of crime.
“We will seek their police custody for further investigation. Efforts are on to arrest the rest of those involved in the offence," the SP said.
