Four members of a family, including two children, died by suicide
Hyderabad: Four members of a family, including two children, died by suicide at two different places in Hyderabad and Sangareddy on Friday. While the husband died by hanging himself to the ceiling at his rented house at BHEL, the wife, who was at her mother's place in Sangareddy, died by jumping off into the canal along with her two kids.
The deceased were identified as Chandrakanth, 38, a software employee and a native of Garlapalli village of Sangareddy district, Lavanya, 32, and two children — Pratham, 6, Sarwajna, 3.
According to police, disputes arose between Chandrakanth and his parents in connection with financial matters. Chandrakanth had purchased an open plot at BHEL and started constructing a building after Lavanya's parents had helped him in providing Rs 40 lakh for the construction of the house.
"Chandrakanth asked his parents to provide some money to finish the construction of the house. But his parents refused to help him immediately. Yesterday, Chandrakanth and his wife went to a house warming function in the city and returned home by night. Later, Lavanya and her two children left for Sangareddy, while Chandrakanth took the extreme step of dying by suicide," police said.
After Lavanya reached her parents' residence in Sangareddy, she called her husband but no response. She called neighbours and asked them to inquire about Chandrakanth. As neighbours informed Lavanya that her husband had died, she went to a nearby lake and jumped into the water along with her kids. The bodies were found floating in the lake on Friday.
Two cases were registered in Ramachandrapuram and Sangareddy and police are investigating the cases.
