Hyderabad: An 11-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her stepfather in IDA Bollaram. The incident came to light when the girl’s mother went to meet her teachers in school who told her that she had left school early on Thursday. Later, the girl revealed that she had been raped by her stepfather M. Santosh Reddy. Police said the girl’s mother had left her first husband.
The accused Santosh Reddy, hailing from Kurnool, had left his first wife and was staying in the victim girl’s neighbourhood. Santosh and the girl’s mother met at their workplace, developed a friendship and got married five years ago. They were staying together with her kids. On Thursday after the woman left for work, Santosh went to the girl’s school and brought her home giving some excuse.
“Later, he took her to an isolated place and raped her. He also threatened her not to reveal it to her mother,” inspector M. Satish Reddy said. On Friday when her mother went to school she came to know that the girl had left school early on Thursday. On questioning the girl admitted that Santosh raped her. Based on the mother’s complaint, police registered a case of rape under the Criminal Amendment Act 2013 and under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
