Chennai: Two killed after a tanker lorry knocks down bike

Chennai: Two men on bike died after a tanker lorry knocked them down at Kancheepuram on Thursday night. The deceased identified as Thirumalai (25) and  Rahman (26) were residents of Arakkonam and were working at a private company in Sriperumbudur.

According to police, the duo used to travel together every day on Rahman’s motorbike.

 

On Thursday night, when they were riding on Sriperumbudur-Tambaram national highway a  speeding tanker lorry knocked them down and fled the spot.

Rahman and Thirumalai were thrown off the bike.  Rahman who was riding the bike was wearing a helmet and sustained serious injuries, while Thirumalai died on the spot.  

Passersby rushed Rahman to the Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital where he succumbed to injuries on Friday morning.

The Sriperumbudur police registered a case and have collected the CCTV footages from a nearby petrol bunk to nab the truck driver.
