Hyderabad: Six ABVP members have been arrested and booked under Sections 148 and 149 of the IPC which deal with rioting and damages to public properties. The members had entered the general manager’s office of Narayana College, Narayanguda, and vandalised the office following allegations that Sri Latha, ex-principal of Narayana School in Ashok Nagar, was harassed by Jay Simha Reddy, general manager of Narayana College.
“The ABVP members entered his office and broke the furniture and photo frames. We have booked a case against them,” says B Ravinder, inspector of the Narayanguda station. Following the arrest, ABVP has called for a state-wide strike in all Narayana institutions on Friday.
“We have proof that she was harassed. We will not let this case go lightly. She had quit Narayana School because of the harassment,” said a member of the ABVP. Narayana College, however, issued a statement, saying that the reports are baseless. “Those reports are based on a conversation between two private individuals and have nothing to do with Narayana College,” clarified the college. An internal committee has been appointed by the college to look into the issue.
