Hyderabad: A medical representative was apprehended by Central Zone Task Force team on Tuesday for threatening a doctor and his wife and demanding Rs 1 cr. from the couple who were running a clinic in Musheerabad.

The accused was identified as Mohammed Azhar Mehdi alias Azhar, 36, a medical representative, working at Axenic Healthcare at Himayathnagar, the police said.

On September 27, the doctor running a clinic at Dayara Market of Musheerabad approached the police and registered a complaint stating that for the past three days, his wife had been receiving messages and threatening calls from an unknown number.

“The caller, identified as Azhar, was using vulgar language and also threatened her with dire consequences if she and her husband did not pay Rs 1 crore.

“He further said that if they informed the police, he would kill their family members,” said the DCP, Commissioner’s Task Force P. Radhak-rishna Rao.

Considering the seriousness and sensitivity of the issue, a case was booked at Musheerabad Police station and the Central Zone Task Force team apprehended Mohammed Azhar Mehdi from Chaderghat on Tuesday.
