Bengaluru: Suspecting her infidelity, a 38-year-old security guard killed his wife and later attempted suicide after a fight at their residence in Konanakunte police station limits on Monday night.
The deceased has been identified as Geetha (33) and the accused, Kumar, is undergoing treatment at a hospital. The couple was married for nine years and have an eight-year-old son.
Kumar accused Geetha of an affair and they fought frequently over the issue. On Monday night, a fight broke out again, and in the heat of argument, Kumar picked up a knife from the kitchen and stabbed Geetha to death.
Geetha shouted for help before collapsing on the ground, the neighbours rushed to her help. Seeing the neighbours coming, Kumar stabbed himself in a bid to commit suicide. But the neighbour rushed him to a Victoria Hospital, where he is being treated. Geetha died on the spot, the police said.
Kumar will be arrested once he fully recovers from stab injuries, the police said. A case has been registered at the Konanakunte police station.
