Psychologist convicted for sex chat

HYDERABAD: The Nampally court on Saturday convicted and sentenced a psychologist, B.P. Nagesh, to 16 days in prison for harassing several female college students by making lewd calls to them.

The police said that Nagesh, 42, a resident of Madhapur, had conducted counselling classes in well-known colleges in the city. During the classes, he would exchange phone numbers with students saying that he would send them motivational quotations, A.R. Srinivas additional commissioner (Crimes & SIT), stated in a press release.

Once a student contacted him, Nagesh would turn the conversation towards sex and begin to harass the victim, the officer said.

The case came to light when a victim felt empowered by the awareness programme being conducted in the colleges and complained to the She Team.

The members of the She Team took the accused into custody and produced him before the Nampally court, where he was sentenced to undergo 16 days of imprisonment, Srinivas said.
