10-year jail to accused in POCSO case

KAKINADA: POCSO Cases Special Court Judge Venkateswara Rao on Friday imposed 10 years’ jail term and a fine of Rs. 1500 on accused Thota Durga Mahesh (26) on the charge of raping a minor girl after promising to marry to her in 2017.

The Three town Police had registered the case against him. Recently, a non-bailable warrant was also issued against the accused. He was later arrested and produced before the judge.

Kakinada SP Ravindranath supervised the investigations.

Meanwhile, Kakinada Three Town police on Friday traced out a 14-year-old missing girl and handed her back to her parents in 24 hours after receiving the complaint.

The girl had told her parents that she was going to school and did not return home. Her father lodged a complaint with the police. The girl was found in Rajamahendravaram. Later, she was taken to Kakinada, police said.
