Hyderabad: Two held for selling ganja, gutka
Hyderabad: The Gachibowli police has arrested two persons from the Financial District area for selling banned tobacco products and ganja from tea stalls.
The police also seized 500 gm of ganja and over 2,700 sachets of tobacco products.
Acting on a tip off, two teams of police rushed to Continental Hospital road in the Financial District and made the arrests.
The team headed by Gachibowli additional inspector Ch Ramaiah arrested Bikka Poddas, 37, a resident of Nanakramguda in Odisha. His employer Vinay is absconding.
The team seized 500 gm ganja and 1,457 packets of gutkha from Poddas and booked a case against him under NDPS Act and section 4 of COTPA (Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act). He has been remanded to judicial custody.
In the second raid, a team headed by sub inspector P. Dharmesh arrested Madapur Sreenivasu, 32, of Serilingampally and seized 1,287 sachets of gutkha stored at his tea stall.
Police also seized Rs 4,500 from him. He has also been remanded to judicial custody.
