Hyderabad: A 55-year-old mentally-challenged woman died on Sunday under Pet Basheerabad police station limits after she consumed toilet cleaning acid. The police identified the victim as Ms M. Bhagyalaxmi.
According to police, Ms Bhagyalaxmi was mentally unstable and was undergoing treatment for the same. Mr D. Mahesh, sub inspector at Pet Basheerabad police station, said, “On Sunday around 6 am she consumed toilet cleaning acid. When family members noticed this, they rushed her to hospital, but the doctors declared her dead on arrival.”
The police has registered the case under section 174 CrPC and handed over the body to the woman’s family after post-mortem examination at Gandhi Hospital.
