Hyderabad: Man names lenders in suicide note

Ahmed was married and has a four-year-old daughter.

HYDERABAD: After being harassed by money lenders, a 25-year-old bike mechanic committed suicide at Chaderghat. Mohammad Ahmed hung himself at his home and in his suicide note, he named those who were allegedly troubling him along with the amount he owed them.

Ahmed was married and has a four-year-old daughter. It’s believed he borrowed Rs 2,80,000 from three persons four months ago. His family alleges the lenders had collected substantial interest on the sum and says they were pressurising Ahmed to return the money as quickly as possible. “Each time Ahmed spoke to them, he would look worried,” His brother Mohammed Yousuf said. And on Thursday evening, Ahmed hung himself at his home while his family was away. “We have registered a case of suspicious death and are verifying the allegations,” a police official said.

In his suicide note, Ahmed named one Sukroo, from whom he had borrowed Rs 1,65,000, a Khaleel Khan who had lent Rs 65,000 and one Khusro Khan, who gave Ahmed loan of Rs 50,000.
