Srisailam dam gets 2 lakh cusescs

The outflow from Almatti in Karnataka was to the order of 2,30,207 cusecs and at Narayanpur, 210128.

KURNOOL: Krishna water reached the Srisailam reservoir on Friday for the first time this monsoon and there is a prospect that inflows will continue.

The Central Water Commission has had issued a flood warning bulletin to major reservoirs in Krishna basin and said that inflows into the river were steady. The bulletin forecast was valid till 8 am on Saturday.

Srisailam was receiving 1,97,995 cusecs of water and its storage stood at 58.71 tmc ft against the full capacity of 215 tmc ft. The outflow from Almatti in Karnataka was to the order of 2,30,207 cusecs and at Narayanpur, 210128. The Jurala project was receiving 2,05,000 cusecs from the Karnataka dams and releasing 2,08,278 cusecs to Srisailam.

Two projects were in need of water. The Tungabhadra dam, which also feeds Srisailam, was about one-third full, with 30 tmc ft of water against its full capacity of about 100 tmc ft. And hardly any water had reached Nagarjunasagar on Friday.
