Hyderabad: An unidentified person threw acid on a 45-year-old woman when she was taking tuitions for students in a room, opposite Sanskar School in Jeedimetla on Thursday evening.
According to sources, the victim has been identified as Surya Kumari, 45, a resident of Phase II in Padmanagar of Chintal, teaches social studies in Siddhartha School at Chintal.
On Thursday evening, when she was taking tuitions, an unidentified person threw acid on her face. Kumari suffered severe burns on her face. The students alerted passersby, who rushed her to Remedy Hospital in Kukatpally for treatment.
The woman’s husband works in a Seeds Manufacturing Company in the city and she has two daughters, including an engineering student, said the sources.
Balanagar ACP T. Goverdhan said that the accused is yet to be identified and his motive is also unknown.
A formal complaint has also not been lodged yet with the Jeedimetla police.
“The woman is admitted to Remedy Hospital with severe burns and is undergoing treatment. Further details regarding the incident are being collected, as the victim was rushed to the hospital first and the police were intimated later.”
