Chennai: ATM burglary bid foiled as alarm goes off
Chennai: Residents of Cemetery Road in Washermenpet were in a shock after an alarm system went off in their locality late Wednesday evening. The police have launched a hunt to nab 4 persons who fled the spot.
According to police sources, four persons entered the ATM centre belonging to a private bank sans security guard and disconnected the CCTV camera. “The miscreants tried to break the ATM to steal money. However, they took to heels once the alarm in the centre went off,” the sources said.
The residents rushed to the spot and were shocked. Meanwhile, the bank’s control room in Mumbai received an alert of the incident and the bank management filed a complaint with the Chennai police. Base on the complaint, Washermenpet police registered a case and are searching for miscreants.
