Karnataka: Army man kills 2 daughters, ends life
BENGALURU: In a shocking incident, a 32-year-old army man killed his two daughters and later committed suicide by hanging at his residence in Challakere in Hennur police station limits on Monday night.
The army man, Harish Kumar, is said to have taken the extreme step over a domestic and financial row. Harish has left behind a death note in which he has held no one responsible for his death, the police said.
According to police, Harish was on leave and had come to Bengaluru last month after his father died. He often fought with his wife over family issues.
However, it is not yet clear on why Harish poisoned his daughters Rajitha (6) and Krutika (4). Harish had joined the army in 2016 and was posted in Assam.
“Though Harish did not hold anyone responsible for his death in the note, the reason for killing his daughters is yet to be ascertained. His family members are not in a condition to speak. We will question them soon,” the police added. Harish was supposed to report to the duty on August 5.
Police said on Monday night Harish went to his room along with his daughters and closed the door. Thinking Harish wanted to spend time with his daughters, his wife slept in a different room. The next morning when Harish’s wife knocked the bedroom’s door, she did not get any response. She grew suspicious and with the help of others broke open the door. Harish and his daughters were found dead and she informed the police. Hennur police have registered a case.
