Bengaluru: A 27-year-old lineman, previously working for Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (BESCOM), was electrocuted while repairing a damaged wire on an electric pole in Indiranagar on Monday.

The deceased, Srinath, who hailed from Kolar Gold Fields (KGF), worked earlier for Bescom on contract. He was attending a private call to repair damaged wires, when he was killed.

Around 3 pm on Monday, Srinath went to repair a damaged wire on 12th B Main and climbed the pole after shutting down the power supply of that line. But he accidentally climbed a different electric pole with live wires, suffered a jolt and crashed to the ground, the police said.

As he was lying unconscious, residents of the area informed the police as well as Bescom authorities and rushed him to a private hospital, where he was declared brought dead. A case has been registered at the Jeevanbimanagar police station and the investigation is on.
