Hyderabad: 22 kg ganja recovered during raids
Hyderabad: The excise department conducted a raid and arrested three men possessing 22 kg dry ganja. Four bikes and seven mobile phones were also recovered from them.
The men were identified as Ramesh Kumar Chari alias Krishna Chari, 37, and Janakiram alias Kalu alias Raju, 38. On seeing the raid party, Shiva Chari, 35, the gang leader, Rama Chari alias Ramu, 29, and Chinna Chari, 30, fled, police said.
As per the directions of the Deputy Commissioner of Prohibition and Excise, Hyderabad Division, C. Vivekananda Reddy, vigilance was increased on the movements of ganja smugglers and one bike and 1.5 kg ganja was seized from one Naresh Singh, 39. Based on the information given by him, a house was raided at Shamshabad and 20.5 kg of ganja was seized from four men.
“During the course of enquiry, it was revealed that Shiva Chari and Krishna Chari are brothers and were a co- accused in in an attempt to murder case at Mangalhat police station with one Manmohan Singh. They formed a gang along with Vikas Singh, Pradeep Singh, Vicky Singh, Rajesh Singh and Vittal Chari and started smuggling ganja from Vizag to Hyderabad.
Two months back a few of the gang members were arrested by the Rajendranagar excise police with 70 kg ganja. The gang operates in Hyderabad and Cyberabad and supplies the contraband to local sellers,” said Asst Excise Superintendent, Enforcement Hyderabad, N. Anji Reddy.
