Bengaluru: A lovelorn employee of a private company was arrested for allegedly stripping and assaulting his woman colleague on a busy road for rejecting his marriage proposal.
Based on the victim’s complaint, the Chandra Layout police arrested Arun and booked him under Sections 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC.
The complainant stated that Arun was known for his pervert behaviour in office and he posted derogatory messages and videos in a group that has many women employees of the company.
The complainant said that Arun sent her obscene pictures and videos, and she objected to it and warned him. Arun stopped sending such messages, but allegedly started stalking women employees of the company on his bike and made obscene gestures at them in public.
Around 6 pm on Saturday, the complainant was walking towards a bus stop after work when Arun approached her on his bike and asked her to marry him. “Hey, marry me. I want you no matter what,” the complainant quoted Arun as saying.
Angry with Arun’s behaviour, she yelled at him. Arun then started abusing the complainant and her women friends. He later threatened to kidnap her and held her hand. When she resisted, Arun allegedly tore her top in full public view, the complaint stated.
Other employees of the company arrived at the spot and thrashed Arun black and blue before handing him over to the Chandra Layout police. A case was registered and investigations are on.
