Telangana: Racket in adulterated ghee busted

“They used to sell the adulterated ghee for Rs 300 to Rs 350 a litre and make a profit of Rs 100 to Rs 150 a litre,†the official added.

Hyderabad: Police busted an adulterated ghee manufacturing racket at a house in Begumpet.

The cops arrested two members of the gang who had been producing adulterated ghee by mixing various chemicals and were selling it to traders in Begum Bazaar and Bowenpally under the brand name ‘Amul Pure Ghee’.

Police said the accused Rajender Mali and M. Venkatesh decided to create a secret manufacturing unit at their house to produce adulterated ghee.

“They were preparing adulterated ghee in Venkatesh’s house at Rasoolpura in Begumpet since three months. They mix palm oil and dalda with genuine ghee purchased from the market. They created packets and labels for their product and struck a deal with traders in Begum Bazaar and Bowenpally to sell the product,” said a senior police official.

“They used to sell the adulterated ghee for Rs 300 to Rs 350 a litre and make a profit of Rs 100 to Rs 150 a litre,” the official added.
