Hyderabad: A man who had set up a child care home in LB Nagar allegedly sexually harassed a 14-year-old inmate for the past few months. The incident came to light when the girl went to her school to get a transfer certificate, and told her teachers. The teachers informed the Ranga Reddy district child welfare department, who lodged a complaint with the LB Nagar police.
Jadi Madhav Rao, 45, set up the Adarana Child Care Home in LB Nagar a few years ago. The victim, who is a Class VIII student, was admitted to the home after her mother died three years ago, and her father remarried.
Officials admitted the child at a government school in Saroornagar. A few days ago, she went to her school to apply for the TC. When the teachers asked why she needed the TC, she told them that she was being sexually harassing her for months by Madhav Rao.
During inquiry, the girl told the police that Madhav Rao used to wake her up at 3 am every day and harass her sexually in his room, while his wife and mother slept in another room.
Based on her statement, the Ranga Reddy District Child Protection Unit lodged a complaint with LB Nagar police. Madhav Rao is absconding. LB Nagar inspector Kasi Reddy said a case was registered on charges of sexual harassment and under the provisions of the POSCO Act.
The victim was shifted to a state-run home in Nimboliadda and a hunt is on to nab Madhav Rao.
