Cabbie robs 'Kempegowda International Airport' passenger

On the way, the driver reportedly changed the route near Yelahanka railway bridge.

Bengaluru: An employee of a private firm, who took a cab to the Kempegowda International Airport, was robbed of cash Rs 22,500 by the cab driver early Sunday.

Arpit Gandhi, a resident of Hebbal, is the victim. According to the police, Gandhi hails from Nagpur and he had planned to visit his parents on Sunday.

He had booked a cab to the airport and was picked up around 5 am. On the way, the driver reportedly changed the route near Yelahanka railway bridge. When Gandhi questioned him, the driver told him that he need to fill petrol and thus was going to a petrol pump. Fearing he would miss the flight Gandhi offered to get down and take another cab. “The driver demanded Rs 1,000 for the drop and when the passenger took out his purse to pay, the driver allegedly snatched his purse and took away Rs 22,500 in cash and sped away,” police said. Gandhi later drew cash and booked another cab, police said.
