Speeding suv kills veterinary doctor, injures four in Hyderabad

Dr Prasad Rao died on the spot while four others suffered injuries.

Hyderabad: A 45-year-old veterinary doctor was killed on the spot in an accident at Kandukur on Saturday.

Police said the mishap occurred when Dr Prasad Rao was waiting for a bus and an SUV hit him while trying to overtake an autorickshaw. Four others were also injured.

Dr Prasada Rao, hailing from Ongole, was a resident of Hyderabad and was working as a veterinary doctor at Kandukur in Ranga Reddy district near Hyderabad.

On Saturday at around 10 am he was at the bus stop waiting for a bus. Meanwhile, an SUV going towards Srisailam hit him and four others.

“The SUV driver was trying to overtake an autorickshaw. He lost control and ran over passengers at the bus stop,” Kandukur inspector K.V. Vijay Kumar said.

Dr Prasad Rao died on the spot while four others suffered injuries. They were rushed to a nearby hospital and their condition is said to be out of danger.

The SUV driver abandoned the vehicle and fled from the spot. An accidental death case was registered and a hunt is on to nab the SUV driver.
