2 crooks held in Delhi by Cyber Crime Police of Hyderabad

The duo duped RTC conductor K. Chandramouli of Rs 4.15 lakh.

Hyderabad: The Cyber Crime Police of Hyderabad nabbed two persons for collecting money from people on the pretext of helping them claim lottery prizes. The duo was identified as Rohit Sharma alias Rahul, 26, proprietor of Star Info Solution at Ghaziabad, and his friend Mayank Gupta alias Vikas Mittal alias Sameer Gupta, 23, of New Delhi.

Police said that the duo collected mobile numbers of the victims from internet and called them saying that they had won a lucky draw in a New Delhi-based company.

“The victims were asked to claim the lottery by paying money towards processing fees, income tax, and other charges and provided their bank account numbers to the customers. Believing this, several innocent people had deposited huge amounts varying from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 4.5 lakh,” said CCS DCP Avinash Mohanty.

The duo duped RTC conductor K. Chandramouli of Rs 4.15 lakh, after he purchased a Tab from an online shopping website through which his details were stolen. Mr Mohanty said a team had arrested the duo in Ghaziabad.
