Perumbavoor rape case: Cops release sketch of Jisha murderer'
KOCHI: The police team investigating the murder of the Dalit LLB student at Kuruppampady near Perumbavoor has released a new sketch of the suspected killer on Thursday. The sketch released by the police is of a person having nearly 5 ft seven inches height, fair skin and uncombed hair.
The police requested the people to inform them if they came across anybody resembling the person in the sketch. The message can be communicated to Ernakulam rural SP on the telephone number 9497996979, Perumbavoor DySP on 9497990078 or Kuruppampadi sub-inspector on 9497987121.
The probe headed by ADGP B Sandhya meanwhile has recorded the statement from Jomon Puthenpurakkal, who has submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, alleging that a top leader of the Congress and his son were involved in the case. The team recorded the statement at the Aluva Guest House.
Mr. Puthenpurakkal told reporters that he is firm on the allegations and would hand over the relevant evidence to the probe team. Sources in the probe team said that the new sketch was prepared on the basis of the accounts collected from witnesses. The sketch is the person suspected to seen leaving the residence of Jisha on the fateful day. The new sketch is totally different from the sketch drawn earlier.
A Dalit body named Pattikakajathi-Pattikavarga Samudaya Samara Samithi, meanwhile has decided to hold a ‘self-respect’ march on June 17 from Kuruppampadi police station to the residence of Jisha demanding a fair and transparent probe into the incident. Speaking to reporters in Kochi, P Sashikumar PN Sukumaran office bearers of the outfit said the prime demand included a CBI probe in the case.
