Chennai: A man who throttled his wife to death suspecting her fidelity and later tried to portray it as suicide was caught by Tiruttani police late Wednesday evening.
The arrested was identified as Durgan (30) who works in a private company along with her wife Sivapriya (25). The police said though the couple was happy after marriage, for the last few months, he was allegedly harassing her suspecting her fidelity. Meanwhile, the day before yesterday the couple were involved in a quarrel and after that, they went to sleep.
After a few hours, Durgan informed the relatives that his wife had hanged herself. However, Sivapriya's mother suspected something foul and alerted police. It was found that Sivapriya was strangled and smothered with a pillow. The police said that the accused confronted that he remarried Sivapriya and he disliked she visiting her first husband and children who lived in Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh.
