Bengaluru: While investigating a kidnapping case, Koramangala police arrested three people and based on the information provided by them arrested three more for drug peddling.
Police said that on April 22 Madhupan, a resident of Koramangala first block, was kidnapped by three people.
They barged into Madhupan’s house, assaulted him, snatched away his mobile phone, laptop and other valuables, and later bundled him into their car and sped away.
They stopped the vehicle in between K.R. Puram and Avalahalli and forced Madhupan to withdraw cash by using his ATM card. They then took him to Hosakote, assaulted him with sharp-edged weapons and threw him into a compound in a secluded area and fled.
The passersby noticed Madhupan, who narrated his ordeal and they took him to a nearby private hospital, where he was administered first aid and then taken to Koramangala police station, where he registered a complaint.
The police formed specials teams and based on call records and information provided by Madhupan, they zeroed in on three people and arrested them.
A senior police officer said the arrested have been identified as Nakul B.S., 27, a resident of Hulimavu and hailing from Thiruvananthpuram in Kerala, Stepehn Raj, 25, a resident of Bannerghatta main road and Venu Madhav, 22, a resident of Hoysala Nagar near Horamavu. Nakul’s father is a retired police officer in Kerala.
“During interrogation the police came to know they were ganja peddlers and got to know that three of their friends were trying to sell ganja in Koramangala. A police team rushed to the spot and arrested them. They have been identified as Prem Mahadev, 26, Anujosh, 22 and Rahul M G, 25, all hailing from Kerala and residing in different areas in the city. We have seized 5 kg of ganja and a car, which was used to kidnap Madhupan,” the officer added.
They have been peddling ganja to college students and corporate employees for the past five years. The accused told police that Madhupan had purchased ganja from them, but failed to pay up, hence they kidnapped him, the officer said.
