Hyderabad: The KPHB police arrested a man on Wednesday for posting objectionable videos defaming Kukatpally MLA Madhavaram Krishna Rao.
Police said the accused, Pidikiti Gopal Chaudhary, 30, jobless for the past two years, had been doing this for the past one month. “He posts objectionable videos and photos and then tries to extort money,” KHPB police inspector Ch Kushalkar said.
In the present case, he told the MLA's supporters that he would stop posting defamatory material only after they paid him Rs 10 lakh. He had circulated a video of the MLA on Facebook and a WhatsApp group, police said. The police seized a cell phone from the accused and sent him in judicial remand for investigation.
