Siddipet: Man tries to rape minor, nabbed
Hyderabad: A 60-year-old man tried to sexually assault a six-year-old girl in Siddipet town on Tuesday night.
Mallesham, a resident of Naseer Nagar, lured the girl into his house in an attempt to sexually assault her. But she managed to escape and return home safely. The girl's family approached the police and filed a complaint.
Upon hearing about the incident, a group of youngsters became enraged and started vandalising the home of the accused, damaging household articles.
Later, they staged a sit-in in front of the police station, demanding stringent action against the alleged culprit. After about an hour, the police pacified them and dispersed the gathering.
Later, on Wednesday afternoon, a number of youngsters gathered at the Iqbal Minar junction and attempted to organise a rally to protest the incident.
Several policemen were deployed to the area as a precautionary measure.
Senior police officials pacified the protestors by telling them that provisions of the law had been invoked against the accused, and he had been remanded.
