Hyderabad: The man who raped a 15-year-old girl in a movie theatre was arrested by the Sanathnagar police on Wednesday.
The accused was identified as Prasad, the watchman of Vijetha theatre. The incident occurred on Tuesday morning when the girl, along with her sister in law, went to the theatre located opposite their house to fetch water.
“They carried three water cans with them. After filling one can, the girl's sister-in-law carried it back home, while she waited to fill the other two cans. Seeing her alone, the theatre watchman Prasad, aged around 20 years, dragged her into a toilet in the cellar and tried to rape her. When she resisted, he beat her severely. He then gagged her and raped her," Sanathnagar inspector E. Venkat Reddy said. A case was booked against Prasad under sections 376(2)(i) of IPC and sections 3&4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The girl was sent for medical tests and counselling.
