SBI franchisee employee shot
Hyderabad: An employee of an SBI online franchise centre was shot by an unknown person in Katedan on Monday. Police said the attacker shot the employee, Prasad, who was in his seat and fled. Prasad suffered an injury in his abdomen.
Police said Prasad was working as a cashier at the SBI online franchise centre Geo Sanchar located on the first floor of a building opposite the Katedan SBI branch. Prasad was alone as his colleague Munna was absent.
At around 1 pm, a man in his late twenties speaking Hindi with a North Indian accent came to the centre to deposit Rs 500 in an account. Prasad collected the Rs 500 and deposited it in an account in the name of one Rahul Kumar.
Prasad credited Rs 475 to the account and Rs 25 was deducted as service charges. “Suddenly the man took out a pistol and shot Prasad and fled. The bullet hit him in the abdomen. He recovered and with the help of his friends came to Global Hospital,” said ACP K. Ganga Reddy.
“We think that he used a country weapon fitted with a silencer. He did not touch the cash at the centre. His motive is not known as the victim says that he has no enemies,” the ACP added. Police started checking CCTV cameras in the area.
Immediately after he was shot Prasad informed his friends in neighbouring shops who did not believe as they had not heard any sound but later on seeing blood, they rushed him to hospital. After he was admitted at Global Hospital at Lakdikapul, the hospital authorities alerted the police. Hospital sources said Prasad’s condition is stable.
“The CT scan showed the bullet is stuck in the abdominal valve. Depending on the situation, a decision will be taken on whether the surgery to remove the bullet has to be done immediately or it can be postponed for a while,” Dr Shibaji Chattopadhyay, the COO of Global Hospitals said. Police registered an attempt to murder case and under the Arms Act.
