Mother, son die in road accident in Karimnagar

Anjaiah’s wife Soujanya and son Yashwanth died on the spot after coming under the tyres of the oncoming bus

KARIMNAGAR: A mother and her seven-year-old son died while the father and daughter have been admitted to hospital in a serious condition following a road accident involving a two-wheeler and an RTC bus at Manakondur in Karimnagar district on Saturday.

The dead have been identified Soujanya, 28, and son Yashwanth. Enagandula Anjaiah and his daughter Ashwitha have survived but are serious at the Government Main Hospital in Karimnagar.

According to police, the four had been returning home on their two-wheeler after meeting their relatives in Karimnagar city. As they neared Manakondur circle, Anjaiah tried to overtake an RTC bus going towards Hanamkonda. However, he lost control and the handle of his bike hit the bus. All the four fell on to the road.

There was another RTC bus coming in the opposite direction. Anjaiah’s wife Soujanya and son Yashwanth died on the spot after coming under the tyres of the oncoming bus. Anjaiah and his daughter Ashwitha have been hospitalised but are in a serious condition.

Bodies of Soujanya and Yashwanth have been sent for post-mortem and a case registered.

Karimnagar MP and BJP state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar has expressed shock over the deaths. He urged doctors to provide best of care to the injured father and daughter. The BJP leader suggested that departments concerned take necessary measures to prevent road accidents at the Manakondur circle.
