Hyderabad: Visually handicapped girl molested
Hyderabad: An 18-year-old blind girl was allegedly molested by her neighbour at her home in SR Nagar. The girl, who is also physically challenged, was alone when the man came in.
The suspect overpowered the girl, molested her and escaped without being noticed by neighbours, the victim’s mother alleged. The incident happened when her mother had gone out for work.
Though initially the girl’s mother alleged rape, after medical examination, police said that it was not rape but just molestation. The police said the girl had not been raped.
SR Nagar inspector Md. Waheeduddin said the suspect was identified as B. Swami, 30, a mason, and a hunt has been launched for him. “We have booked a case against him under Section 354 following the complaint from the girl’s mother,” said the inspector.
The girl’s mother, who works as a maid, said she and her daughter live alone in their house.“I work in homes for livelihood. My daughter was alone in the house after I went out. When I came back, I could not find her for a while. When I searched I found her in a corner of the room crying. And when I asked what had happened, she told me that someone entered the house and sexually assaulted her,” the mother said.
The girl said that she could not recognise the person. “We did not know who it was. The man had already escaped,” said her mother. “My daughter was devastated and was not able to give any description of what happened initially,” she added.
The woman later approached the police and filed a complaint with the police, who inquired into the matter in the locality and found that a neighbour was the one who had entered the house.
“We got some leads and that helped us to identify the suspect. He has absconded after the incident. We have sent out our teams to nab him, and we will soon get him,” said inspector Waheeduddin.
