Hyderabad: Fake treasure hunters nabbed at Chatrinaka
Hyderabad: South zone police arrested a gang of fake treasure hunters including a former Deloitte employee, on Saturday night while they were digging inside a house in Chatrinaka.
The gang leader, Sheikh Sameer, 27, from Golconda, who quit Deloitte recently, had convinced the house owner that there were Nizam era gold deposits under the house. When police arrived they had dug around 26 meters deep into the ground. Police recovered materials used for a pre-digging ceremony.
The men had been digging the ground since one-and-a-half months every night after vacating the house. The two associates of Sameer are Mohd. Zubair, 28, from Tolichowk and Mohd. Ashwaq, 18, from Falakanuma.
Police found the entire business was a scam planned by the gang who wanted to extract money from the house owner. The main suspect, Sameer, had already taken Rs 10,000 from the owner.
Sameer told the house owner that he had a ‘vision’ about a large gold deposit at Chatrinaka. He told him that he found his house and felt that it was under the building.Whenever the house owner expressed doubts and asked where the treasure is, Sameer and his friends said that it will be found soon.
