Pourakarmika's murder: Two arrested

Investigations revealed that the porakarmika had teased the prime accused that he would marry his sister and this led to the murder.

Bengaluru: The Kengeri police have arrested two youth in connection with the murder of a BBMP pourakarmika. Investigations revealed that the porakarmika had teased the prime accused that he would marry his sister and this led to the murder.

The arrested have been identified as Pratap, 21, and Madesh, 22, both sweepers at a private hospital. They have been accused of murdering Puttaswamy, 45, on March 29. All of them were residents of Srinivasapura Colony near Kengeri.

According to the police, Puttaswamy, a married man with two children, was close to both the accused. He used to regularly tease Pratap that he would marry his younger sister. This had led to quarrel between them on several occasions.

“On March 29 night, the accused duo and Puttaswamy were consuming alcohol next to a storm water drain near Omkar Ashrama. Then also Puttaswamy reportedly said that he would marry Pratap’s sister. An infuriated Pratap allegedly punched him on the chest and Puttaswamy died on the spot. Later, the accused duo threw the body in the drain and absconded,” police said.

The next day, Puttaswamy’s family members filed a police complaint. When the police went near the drain, they found Puttaswamy’s slipper there and after a thorough search, his body was also found in the drain, the police said.
