Hyderabad: A dental student from Khammam, who allegedly cheated a Hyderabad based doctor by promising to marry her and collected huge amounts from her family, is being investigated by the LB Nagar police. Police said Shiva Kumar backed out of a promise to marry the doctor after deciding on the marriage date and collecting money from her family.
Shiva Kumar is pursuing BDS and the victim is a doctor with a private hospital in the city. The two knew each other since 2004. They became friends, fell in love and decided to tie the knot. Both the families gave the go ahead for the marriage, and the engagement ceremony was held in February. The wedding was scheduled for April. Meanwhile, Shiva took Rs 4.5 lakh from the doctor’s parents towards what he said was his education expenses.
The family said that, since some days, he started giving hints he was not keen on going ahead with the marriage. An official from LB Nagar police station said the man was absconding and a hunt has been launched to arrest him.
