Bengaluru: Transgenders rob accountant of Rs 54000

Based on the complaint, the Jalahalli police tracked down the gang and arrested them.

BENGALURU: The Jalahalli police have arrested a gang of four people, who posed as transgenders and robbed an accountant of Rs 54,000 in cash and gold valuables, on March 6.

The accused have been identified as Dinesh alias Sweety (22), Byregowda alias Girija (45), Madhu alias Prakurthi (20) and Ravi alias Shivani (29), residents of Dasarahalli and Rajagopal Nagar.

They intercepted B.K. Narayana (45), a resident of Balaji Layout, while he was returning home with cash and took him to an isolated place near MES Railway Gate. They attacked him and robbed his valuables.

Based on the complaint, the Jalahalli police tracked down the gang and arrested them. The police have also recovered Rs 1,12,500 in cash, 45 gm of gold valuables, including seven gold rings and two gold chains from them. The police are also trying to ascertain whether the gang has been involved in any previous cases.

Narayan told the police that the robbers appeared to be body builders as they were wellbuilt. Based on the credible information a team was formed. The cops took the pictures of transgenders in areas such as Hebbal, Nelmangala and Vijaynagar.

After collecting over 50 photographs, the cops managed to zero in on one of the accused Dinesh, who was later identified by the victim. Dinesh was detained by the police and after a detailed questioning he confessed to the crime. Police said that all of the accused were working in a company and at free time they robbed gullible people.
